Adult Recreational Class
The ongoing adult recreational class has a rolling enrollment that accepts new students every few months. This class is designed to provide an opportunity for individuals interested in learning and developing their skills as taiko players and is available to students of all levels of experience.
We offer our programs on a sliding scale so that cost never becomes a barrier to participation. This allows people from many walks of life to gather, learn, and grow together. If you’re able, paying at the higher end helps support others and keeps our community accessible.
What to Expect
Taiko is a physical activity—we’ll be stretching, moving around, and, of course, hitting drums. Please let us know in advance if you have any health conditions so that we can do our best to accommodate. Everyone is invited to take the physical movements at their own pace, and participants are welcome to take breaks, make movement adjustments, and observe as much as needed.

Why take classes with OMNY?
OMNY is for adult beginners. Most of us start from zero, together. We’re here to learn, mess up, laugh, and slowly get better as a group. For us, taiko is a communal experience; at OMNY Taiko, you’re never alone. If this resonates with you, then that’s why you should take classes with OMNY!
“20 years of taiko taught me this: I’m always a beginner.”
—Crissy Lau, OMNY Taiko Artistic Director

Wear comfortable clothing that you can exercise in. It’s best to avoid jeans and any other restrictive clothing. There are spaces where you may change clothing if you’d like. Street shoes are not allowed in the studio; players are recommended to go barefoot for a good grip and connection with the ground. Otherwise, you may wear indoor shoes with clean soles or clean socks with grips.
We ask that you remove any jewelry or watches on the hands, wrists, and feet to avoid injury and prevent damage to the equipment.

We’d be honored if OMNY Taiko was your very first taiko (or music) experience. Many of our members started as adult beginners with zero musical background, and learning together is a big part of how we connect as a group. Taiko isn’t about being perfect or knowing what you’re doing right away so come and challenge yourself, and let’s grow together!
-
We have t-shirts, stickers, and pins available for purchase at the workshop! Limited stock available, if we don’t have your size, just let us kno,w and we’ll make sure to order more.
-
We have limited spots available for the class due to space and equipment limitations. One day, when we have our own dedicated practice space, we’d love to offer more classes so that we can accomodate everyone. In the meantime, sign up for our mailing list so that you’ll be the first to know when registration for the next class series is open!
