Marco Burmester

Marco has been studying shakuhachi in New York City and Kyoto since 2006. Today, he will perform two honkyoku pieces: Jinbo Sanya and Kumoijishi. Honkyoku are songs that were played by Zen monks in Japan’s Edo period for the purposes of meditation, giving alms, and attaining enlightenment.
